Episode 2 of Emmerdale Farm was originally transmitted on Tuesday 17 October, 1972, with Script by KEVIN LAFFAN.
Matt suspects that Peggy is pregnant and confides in Annie. Jack seems to have no intention of helping around the farm. Henry Wilks finds out from Peters that Jack is the legal owner of the farm and decides to tackle him about the right of way problem. He then has a heart to heart with Marian about her relationship problems
The family are shocked that Jack cannot drive. Jack tells Peggy that she can have the farm if it will make her happy and stop the family nagging at him, but Annie insists that his father wanted him to have it. Peggy gets upset as she reveals that she is pregnant.
Marian questions Joe about his brother - she seems very interested in him. Jack seems interested in the old millhouse which cannot be demolished as it has a preservation order on it. He has lost a letter he'd been planning to post.
There are problems on the farm including the tractor breaking down and diseased hens resulting in all the stock needing to be destroyed. Peggy thinks Matt should look for work elsewhere. Jack and Henry Wilks have a confrontation about the right of way across Emmerdale Farm. Joe thinks they should try and be more neighbourly. Jack then discovers a perugine falcon that he suspects has been shot by Henry and asks Joe if he still feels friendly towards him.
